Congratulations and Thank You: 2009!

Thank you Zia and Peter

Running for AVUKAV parents Zia and Peter and their team from the DAC ran to raise money for AVUK!

Zia says "I cannot begin to describe how it felt when our darling daughter, Alisha, was diagnosed as deaf. The grief and despair were overwhelming. All we wanted was that she be given the tools to fulfil her own potential, AVUK gave us those tools.

I knew we had reached a point I could not have imagined when, on a flight, after several hours of non-stop talking I had to tell Alisha that there was to be no more talking or there would be big trouble.

Alisha is now in a mainstream school, participates fully and has no trouble keeping up (she also does not stop talking and sings beautifully). That would not have been possible for her without auditory verbal therapy.

Please help us continue AVUK's work so that all deaf children can have the opportunity that Alisha has had." read more...

Zia and her team are aiming to raise an incredible £10,000. Please help them on their way towards this fantastic goal: follow the link below to find out more and sponsor them on their fundraising page.

Congratulations Carly - Blenheim Triathalon!

Congratulations to Carly who completed the Blenheim triathalon in June 2009!

Carly says " I would like to mark this moment at the beginning of my sporting events career by using it to raise a little bit of money for a very good cause - Auditory VerbalUK.

Kenzie has been visiting the AV team in Bicester for over a year and we passionately believe that they have been a huge part of his communication successes.

AVUK fundraises so that it can keep the cost of therapy affordable for every family and offer bursaries where necessary. AVUK work very hard to open their service up to a wider audience and encourage all their parents to fundraise so that more and more hearing impaired children can benefit from their wonderful work.

Please help me to raise some money for a charity that work so hard to help hearing impaired children learn to listen, understand and talk "

We are particularly impressed by the way Francesca has inspired others to get involved in helping us too! Thanks to Francesca we are supported by a group of several young people who not only come along to help with the creches but also go off and undertake their own fundraising ventures.
