Donations and Fundraising: Playing your part

Here are 10 ways that you can help us:

1.Team up as a volunteer fundraiser
Simon took part in a trans-Alpine ski race, raising over £28 000 for AVUK Unlike many charities, we do not have the funds to invest in a big professional fundraising department, so your voluntary help is immensely valuable. Help us by raising money in your local community, at work and among family and friends.

2. Spread the word to trusts and companies
The support of trusts and companies has been vital in our first five years. We want to expand and diversify this valuable source of funding.

3. Do something mad or modest
Dance the globe, take part in one of the most gruelling trans-Alpine ski races or cycle 100 miles in a howling gale. People have done all these things and raised money for AVUK. We’re happy if you want to do something mad, but equally happy if you do something modest.

4. Set up a sponsorship page
The Justgiving website, www.justgiving.com, is a great place to set up a sponsorship page for walks and runs, challenge events, or even to mark a significant birthday or anniversary. Just click the button below and follow the simple steps. To see some recent AVUK examples visit our Fundraising News section. Or, if you prefer pen and paper, download our Sponsorship Form (.pdf)

5. Donate online
Alice organised a family fun day with face painting, music and a parachuting display! You can donate directly here using your credit or debit card. Alternatively you can send a cheque to the address in our contact page, or speak to us about setting up a direct debit or standing order.

6. Make a gift aid donation
Make a gift aid donation and we can boost the value of your gift by reclaiming basic rate tax from the Treasury if you are a UK taxpayer. Better still, become a regular giver by monthly or quarterly standing order or direct debit. That way your commitment allows us to plan more securely and more children to benefit from AVT. 7. Become a big gift donor
Allow us to think big on behalf of parents and children by giving a five figure sum. Big gift support will give us funds to invest in landmark initiatives.

8. Make a lasting legacy
Remember AVUK in your will. Your legacy will make a lasting difference to the next generation of children. To make a bequest, click here. You can also set up a fund in memory of a loved one by clicking the button below.

9. Donate equipment and skills
Please contact us if you are able to donate your professional skills or make a gift of equipment.

10. Gifts of shares and securities or land and buildings
You can get income tax relief when you donate quoted shares and securities, land or buildings to charity. For example, if you donate shares worth £1000 you could reduce your income tax bill by £400. No capital gains tax will be due on the gift.

If you would like to talk over any of the above ideas or are looking for further inspiration, please contact Hannah Burnham, our Development Officer.
