About AVUK: London Satellite Centre
We are delighted to announce the launch of AVUK's first Satellite Clinic, in Central London. The clinic at Baker Street has been set up in response to demand from parents and professionals living in Greater London who wish to access our auditory verbal therapy services and training services closer to home.
To begin with we will be starting small and piloting a part-time service. We are looking to involve parents in the design of this new service so that our package of care truly reflects local needs. Our hope is that the pilot project will be a success and that we will have the support we need from our families and stakeholders to set up a permanent presence in Central London.
What we offer
We offer auditory verbal therapy services to families living in Greater London who have a child aged 18 months – 4 years with a hearing loss. To find out what is included in our package of care to families please click here.
AVUK is a charity and we do not want cost to be a barrier to any family. We ask families to pay the cost of their auditory verbal therapy package where they can afford to do so. Please speak to Isobel Weller, our Family Liaison Officer, if you have concerns about costs or would like to find out more about our Family Bursary Fund.
Our objectives for the London Clinic
- To offer auditory verbal therapy closer to home to families with a deaf child living in Greater London
- To reach out to families who would not have been able to access services at our Oxfordshire centre
- To involve parents in shaping our services to meet local needs
- To encourage closer working relationships with London-based professionals
- To offer more attractive training opportunities to London-based professionals
- To provide a conveniently located venue for our training courses
- To develop the clinic as a pilot project for developing satellite clinics in other regions of the UK

Charity status
Auditory VerbalUK is a registered charity (1095133) which does not operate for profit. 70% of the families we see are either funded by their local authority through their child's Statement of Special Educational Needs, or are subsidised by our family bursary fund. We rely on charitable donations to support these families. The remaining families who can afford to pay, and who are not funded through a statement, are charged at cost.
