We are absolutely delighted to announce that we have been chosen from more than 400 charities as one of 10 recipients of the 2020 GSK IMPACT Awards. The award recognises AVUK's significant impact in the community and commitment to helping deaf children speak, listen and learn alongside their hearing peers. The awards are designed to recognise the outstanding work of small and medium sized charities working to improve health and wellbeing in communities across the UK.

Anita Grover, Chief Executive of Auditory Verbal UK, said:

“We are delighted to receive this award recognising the impact of our work to create a sound future for deaf children. Our family-centred programme is enabling deaf children to learn to listen and talk and access the same opportunities in life as their hearing peers. Far too many deaf children are currently underachieving at school, at higher risk of bullying and social exclusion and face poorer employment prospects. This shouldn’t be the case.”

“With access to support in the critical first few years of their lives, deaf children can get an equal start at school. We want to see all deaf children getting the support that is right for their family. We are working with other organisations in the sector and training health and education professionals across the UK so that many more families will have the opportunity to access an Auditory Verbal programme close to where they live.”
