Despite the UK having one of the best newborn hearing screening programmes in the world together with access to state-of-the-art hearing technology, we are not yet seeing the gap closing between the achievements of deaf children and those of their hearing peers.

Join AVUK and an expert panel for a discussion of why, in 2021, this is still the case and what it would take to change the future for deaf children in post-pandemic Britain.

Speaker panel:

Noel Kenely, Senior Auditory Verbal Therapist at AVUK (Panel Chair)

Gwen Carr,  Honorary Senior Research Associate at the University College London Ear Institute and former Deputy Director NHS Newborn Hearing Screening Programme

Jonathan Pepper, parent of a child on the AVUK programme and Director at CapGemini

Alison Langshaw, Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, NHS Oxford Auditory Implant Team
