AV^UK graduate James completes work experience at Crown Business Communications

AV^UK  are thrilled to have been chosen as the charity partner of brand communications agency Crown. Since supporting us in our 10th anniversary celebration at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire in Greenwich, Crown have been working with us behind the scenes to create a new visual identity that reflects our ongoing work to enable deaf babies and young children to listen and speak on a par with their hearing peers.

In addition, for two weeks in July,

AV^UK graduate James completed a work experience placement at Crown.

The agency is the first company who has supported AV^UK in this way. James shared his experience with us:

“My first day at Crown was a bit nerve-wrecking to be in a new working environment, away from school and local area but over the first few days felt a little more comfortable and the whole team was very nice with big smiles to brighten up every day. On the first day I also had a chance to do some research and help gather information upcoming event. Gavin supervised me and was very helpful for any questions and problems I had.”

James thoroughly enjoyed his placement and learnt lots of new skills. He got a great insight into a busy London communications agency and how the media industry works. James told us about some of the things that he learnt through his two week placement:

“Gavin has shown me how to do 3D modelling on my laptop, which now I have grown a great interest in for developing in the future. I also learnt how to market and sell your product and how to impact the audience in a strong way. People in Crown are not so hard and strict but want to have a great time working together as a little family.”

We were so pleased to hear that James had a fantastic experience and that Crown appreciated all his hard work. Gavin shared his thoughts on the experience:

“It was a real pleasure having James in the team for a couple of weeks. I think we all learnt from the experience.  He was keen to learn and enjoyed the commercial aspect of the business as well as the social integration with the team. He has been in touch with me since leaving and has told me that he is advancing his interest in 3D design/modelling on his own, so I know that what he learnt from us has had a lasting impact.”
