The British Academy of Audiologists held its annual conference in Glasgow this week. AVUK’s research manager and LSLS Cert Auditory Verbal therapist, Dr Sarah Hogan, presented a 10 year audit of outcomes of children following an auditory verbal programme at Auditory Verbal UK. Sarah spoke to delegates in a session sponsored by Phonak, who generously support the Listen and Talk as One partnership at AVUK’s centre in London. Sarah also led a ‘poster’ session for delegates to understand more about the progress and outcomes of children on our programme.

The key note speech at the event, the Bamford lecture, was given by Dr Carol Flexer, from the USA. Carol is on AVUK’s advisory panel and we were delighted that parents on our programme were able to benefit from her experience when she visited AVUK in June.

Dr Hogan said "Listening happens in the brain. It was great to see Carol Flexer share her knowledge of this with audiologists from across the UK at the conference and I was delighted to talk to delegates about the outcomes of our auditory verbal programme at AVUK".
