Our impact News Our Chief Executive features in new government Green Paper Our Chief Executive, Anita Grover, has contributed to the new government Work and Health Green Paper. The paper, titled Improving Lives: the work, health and disability Green Paper, outlines the government's plans for closing the disability employment gap in order to build our economy. The paper states that only 48% of people with a disability are in work, compared to 80% of the population who are not disabled. Our Chief Executive submitted a case study through the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists on her experience in the work place. Anita, who is profoundly deaf after losing her hearing progressively since childhood, has had a successful career in the senior civil service. Although Anita has faced some challenges in the work place, her cochlear implant surgery in 2006 and the habilitation that followed, has meant that her 'disability' has not hindered her ability to thrive in the work place. The Green Paper is available to read here. Anita's case study is available on page 20.
