On Your Doorstep is a project developed by Auditory Verbal UK to help raise awareness of Auditory Verbal therapy and what is possible for deaf children.

Our outreach team tour the country to deliver workshops in the communities where there is no local access to Auditory Verbal therapy. We deliver two workshops: Teaching your child to listen and talk (for families) and Closing the language gap (for professionals).

Teaching your child to listen and talk

This workshop is for parents and carers who have a child aged 0-5 with a permanent hearing loss, and are interested in learning about how you can teach children with hearing loss to listen and speak.

The workshop lasts for two hours and includes:

  • A introductory talk by a certified Auditory Verbal therapist;
  • A question and answer session;
  • An opportunity for families to speak to an Auditory Verbal therapist one on one to discuss their child;
  • An opportunity to speak to a member of staff to discuss the programme available for families at Auditory Verbal UK and the support available.
