Training Training Overview Auditory Verbal UK Training Overview Auditory Verbal UK offers a range of practical courses for professionals working with hearing-impaired children who use a listening and spoken language approach, and who wish to develop and enhance their skills, in particular those required when working with 0-5 year-olds. Our in-depth training package Designed for speech and language therapists, teachers of the deaf and audiologists who want to become more auditory in their approach when working with deaf children and for those who wish to pursue the listening and spoken language specialist qualification (LSLS CertAVT®). This training is accredited by the AG Bell Academy (the governing body for LSLS CertAVT®s globally). It is in two parts: Foundation level: Part 1 - Working Through Audition This course comprises fortnightly sessions over six months with video and written assignments between training days. Designed to equip professionals with the core skills needed to develop auditory practice when working with children with hearing loss and their families, it is also a foundation course for professionals who want to go on and train to become LSLS CertAVT®s. Advanced level: Part 2 - Auditory Principles in Everyday Practice Open to professionals who have successfully completed the Foundation level of our training package - Working Through Audition. Over a period of 2½ years, participants will hone their practical therapy skills and theoretical knowledge through small group tuition and individual mentoring. At the end of the training, these professionals should be ready to apply to the AG Bell Academy to sit the LSLS CertAVT® examination to become a certified auditory verbal therapist. As part of the bespoke package LSLS CertAVT®s or trainee therapists working in the NHS, local authorities and private practice can access: Clinical supervision Caseload review days Resource materials Bespoke training with CEU/CPD Open mornings Attend one of our centres to find out about auditory verbal therapy and the particular approach used at Auditory Verbal UK. Be guided through a live therapy session and afterwards meet the family and ask them any questions you may have about their experience of the auditory verbal approach. Day courses Held at our London centre these one-day ‘tasters’ are a combination of auditory verbal theory and practical workshops. They cover a range of topics including an introduction to auditory verbal therapy, how to support deaf children in mainstream school, how to facilitate social and emotional development in deaf children, and how to work with deaf babies under 18 months. In-service training An economical way for managers to train their whole team or to focus on particular areas of interest. We come to you and over an agreed number of sessions deliver a combination of 90-minute modules from our menu of topics which include Theory of Mind; speech acoustics; functional listening; purposeful play and book sharing.
