We are thrilled to announce that Auditory Verbal UK's Vicky Watermeyer has become a certified Auditory Verbal therapist.

Vicky has been working at Auditory Verbal UK since October 2012 and pursuing an intensive training programme in Auditory Verbal therapy.

Before coming to work for AVUK, Vicky worked as an audiologist in various NHS and private settings. In 2006, Vicky began working at the Portland hospital, where she embarked on a number of courses with AVUK to strengthen her skills when working with young deaf children.

Vicky sat her Listening and Spoken Language Specialist Cert. AVT written exam on Friday 28th April 2017, which marks the end of her extensive training programme that included 900 hours of professional experience in providing therapy along AV principles.

Auditory Verbal UK's Chief Executive, Anita Grover, said:

We are delighted that Vicky has passed her examination with the Alexander Graham Bell Academy and joins the growing number of LSLS Cert Auditory Verbal therapists in the UK who are helping deaf children to learn to listen and speak on a par with their hearing peers. Well done Vicky!

Vicky has said:

Passing the AG Bell Certification exam marks the end of my formal training to become an LSLS Certified Auditory Verbal Therapist and the beginning of what I expect to be an extension of the learning journey as I continue to work with the families of children with hearing loss at AVUK. I couldn’t be more pleased to finally be certified and would like to thank all the families whose listening journeys I have joined, as well as all my colleagues who provided ceaseless support, training and encouragement along the way!

Vicky after passing her exam.
