What's next?

Congratulations on completing your AV programme at Auditory Verbal UK. This is not goodbye!

You can follow us on social media and become a member of our closed Facebook group, search AVUK families to join. It’s a great space for building a network of support and to share experiences, ideas, strategies and resources, ask questions and celebrate achievements. You can also join our mailing list for updates and opportunities for families.

Help us reach more families

We love to stay in touch with families after their child graduates from the programme at Auditory Verbal UK and to hear about how things are going.

If you would like to share your story then please get in touch with Jane, our PR Manager, by emailing [email protected].

There are also ways of helping us to raise our profile to reach more families. For example, if you are part of a forum or social media group with other parents then please share information about our services or our events.

Every year, our fundraising team needs to raise around £300,000 to pay for family bursaries. We receive no government funding so we are reliant on our amazing supporters. If you are in a position to help another family who would otherwise be unable to join the programme, we would be extremely grateful.

For more information on donating a one-off or regular gift visit: www.avuk.org/donate

By remembering AVUK in your Will, you can help transform the lives of future generations of young children. We’d be delighted to talk this through with you in more detail.

If you aren’t in a position to support us financially there are other ways to help. Please visit:www.avuk.org/fundraise-for-us or speak to one of our fundraising team ([email protected]) - we'd love to hear from you!

Research

Our research team work with AVUK families, past and present, to investigate the outcomes of our early intervention programme. We are interested in how our programme benefits children and families over time. Our aim is to raise expectations and outcomes for all deaf children.

Our research is a combined effort from our team and our families to show what amazing things deaf children can achieve. If you have granted us permission, we will be in touch in future to learn about your child’s Key Stage 1 & 2 results, where appropriate, and ongoing educational assessments.

Ad hoc appointments

Ad hoc appointments are available for all families in the school holidays. These one-off appointments last for approximately 60 minutes.

Booking an ad hoc appointment may be appropriate if you:

  • are looking for further advice and strategies;
  • would like to check your child's spoken language progress using a standardised assessment;
  • would like an informal check of your child's spoken language progress;
  • are concerned about a big transition, for example, starting secondary school;
  • have any particular concerns about your child’s social development or interactions.

These appointments are charged at £180 per session for UK based families and £260 for international families. There is an extra charge for assessment reports. Contact us for more information.
