Parental participation, guidance and coaching are core principles of Auditory Verbal therapy. Our parent training programme is designed to enable parents to become the primary facilitators of their child’s listening and spoken language development. Most parents find that Auditory Verbal therapy is a journey which raises questions along the way and can find it helpful to have access to additional support.

At AVUK, the following support is available for those on the programme:

  • Information and advice about internal and external bursary options to support access to the programme at AVUK, including information on the Education, Health and Care Plan process
  • Our parent ambassadors are parents who have children who are either on the programme at AVUK or who have graduated. Parent ambassadors are happy to share their experiences with families who would like to find out about Auditory Verbal therapy.
  • Access to a private online parent group, where parents share experiences, ask for advice and celebrate achievements together.
  • Parent workshops take place at least once a year. Past workshops have included meeting graduate parents, understanding the sensory integration needs of a child, grandparent support and tips on integrating listening and spoken language opportunities through play.

Auditory Verbal UK provides more than just an early intervention programme to support deaf children to learn to listen and talk - it delivers a family-centred programme which supports the whole family and inspires parents to believe their children can achieve their potential and that they are the very best coaches and teachers for their children. We have a dedicated family support manager who can provide support and answer any questions you might have about family support. Contact Amy Spicer on [email protected] or call 01869 229 301.
