An event hosted at the House of Commons, on the 25th June, has marked the end of our transformative year with The October Club.

AVUK is incredibly grateful to The October Club for raising an amazing £535,000 to enable us to train new auditory verbal therapists and reach many more families across the UK.

octoberclub-010Thanks to The October Club we have been able to recruit Noel, who has become a much loved member of the AVUK team, as well as two new therapists who will be working and training at AVUK from August.  The October Club also made a film to help us promote our work to others, so please do share the fantastic film featuring our team and the families who attend AVUK.

Over 200 people attended the House of Commons event to hear from our Chief Executive Anita on how we have benefitted, and how we will continue to benefit, with the money raised.

As she handed over the baton to the 2015 charity, Honeypot Children’s Charity, Anita said “Our partnership with The October Club has given us not just the funds, but the confidence, the connections and the platform on which to turn our ambitions into reality.  Thanks to them, and the generosity of their sponsors and supporters, we will be able to help many more deaf children to listen, talk and have the same opportunities as hearing children. That is simply fantastic.”
