For the past twelve months, Auditory Verbal UK has been grateful to receive funding from the People's Postcode Trust. Their generous funding has meant that we have been able to provide valuable support to the families that we work with.

The support we provide to parents and carers is an integral part of our programme for families because parental participation, guidance and coaching are core principles of Auditory Verbal therapy. Our parent training programme is designed to enable parents to become the primary facilitators of their child’s listening and spoken language development. Most parents find that Auditory Verbal therapy is a journey which raises questions along the way, and can find it helpful to have access to additional support.

The People's Postcode Trust has enabled us to strengthen this programme of support over the last twelve months. This has included:

  • At least 64 sets of parents having access to support;
  • Providing three parent support workshops for a total of 26 participants;
  • Enabling us to establish and maintain partnerships with three specialist organisations; and
  • The development of an AVT community which will provide long-term peer-to-peer support for parents.

We are so thankful to the Trust for enabling these activities to take place.
